Treasury Gardens

A colourful display in the Treasury Gardens

Adjacent to Old Treasury House, the Treasury Gardens feature many fine avenues of European trees that line the park and its edges. These include elms, ficus macrophylla, and large examples of plane tree and Canary Island palm.

Explore this CBD oasis on the extensive system of pathways that meander through the park and connect directly to the Fitzroy Gardens, or from the large embankment that runs the length of the gardens and offers extensive views.

The garden’s fine lawns are a lunchtime retreat for many city workers, as well as being an ideal place for a picnic, barbecue or kick of the football. The gardens also have a striking monument to J. F. Kennedy and an historic public convenience located on the edge of Landsdowne Street. At night, keep an eye open for possums scrounging for food.
