Food and wine – Goldfields

Local produce from the Goldfields

Fresh regional produce, flavoursome cuisine and some of the finest wine in the state combine to create food and wine excellence that is a favourite of many who visit the Goldfields.

The Goldfields region boasts three wine regions – Bendigo, Ballarat and Heathcote. The rich red soils and cool climate combine to produce an array of palate-pleasing drops. The area is especially known for its magnificent shiraz.

Other regional specialities include bullboar sausages from Newstead, locally pressed olive oil, luscious goat's cheese and crisp apples and juicy pears straight from the growers in Victoria's home of the apple, Harcourt.

There are also excellent dining experiences on offer. Enjoy creamy lattes in villages cafes, fine dining in restored heritage buildings or dine with a view at a local vineyard.
