Horse racing in Melbourne
For the racing fan and casual punter alike, there’s no greater occasion than the Tooheys New Melbourne Cup, the world’s richest horse race. Run at Flemington on the first Tuesday in November, the cup attracts more than 100,000 punters and is the highlight of the Spring Racing Carnival (mid-October to mid-November).
Throughout the year, metropolitan races take place at Flemington, Moonee Valley, Caulfield and Sandown racecourses.
