Celebrate the Chinese New Year at the Golden Dragon Museum.  Special events will include a Chinese Processional Costume Parade, a banquet and a traditional Yum Cha luncheon.

The Chinese Processional Costume Parade will be held from 5.30pm on Sunday 14th February, showcasing one of the world's most stunning collections. The collection housed at the Golden Dragon Museum comprises of processional costumes acquired since the 1880's. The costumes and their accessories draw on Chinese folk law, legends and Chinese history. Learn more about these costumes and see the exquisite textiles up close.

There will be two sittings for Chinese New Year Yum Cha on Sunday 14th February. It is customary to eat dumplings in the New Year. Our variety of steamed and fried Chinese Dim Sum, special dishes and delicacies will tantalise your tastebuds. The traditional Lion dances and fire crackers will bring good fortune to all.

Bendigo’s Chinese heritage is rich. The gold rush of the 1850s saw many thousands of Chinese arrive in Bendigo. Within ten years the Chinese miners and merchants made up 20% of the Bendigo population at that time. This legacy is celebrated in modern Bendigo.
