Waterskiing The Murray
Head to the Murray River and strap on a pair of waterskis. A popular destination for waterskiing enthusiasts, the river attracts experienced water skiers who visit regularly and bring their own boats and equipment. For those less steady on their feet, experienced professionals in the area offer lessons in the calm waters of the river, providing an easy and enjoyable introduction to the sport.
Preferred sites are the popular wider stretches of river at Mildura, Echuca-Moama and Torumbarry as well as Lake Mulwala to the east of Echuca-Moama.
If you prefer to watch from dry land, there are several waterskiing events held in the region each year. The renowned Club Marine Southern 80, the largest waterskiing race in the world, is held in Echuca-Moama each February and attracts up to 40,000 spectators. At Easter contestants vie to be the fastest on the field and take the King of the Murray title in the Mildura 100 Ski Race. In January there is also the Extreme Sports in Yarrawonga-Mulwala.
